On 8 May 2025, a delegation from Peking University (PKU) and Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School (PKU Shenzhen) visited UTAR Sungai Long to explore study abroad opportunities and discuss potential academic collaborations. The visit marked a significant step forward in fostering higher education cooperation between China and Malaysia.
The delegation consisted of PKU School of Materials Science & Engineering Assistant Dean Dr Zhao Xiaoxu and School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering Assistant Research Fellow Dr Niu Lin; PKU Shenzhen Vice Dean, School of Electronic & Engineering Dean and School of AI for Science Executive Dean Prof Tian Yonghong, School of Chemical Biology & Biotechnology Vice Dean Assoc Prof Peng Tao, School of Environment and Energy Vice Dean Assoc Prof Xu Qiyong, School of Urban Planning and Design Assistant Dean Dr Liu Qiyang, School of Advanced Materials Vice Dean Dr Tong Lianming and Education Administration Office Ms Jiang Pengzhi; Peking University Alumni Association of Malaysia President Mr Nai Chen Huang, Secretary General Mr Tan Quan Liong and Council Member Mr Cheng Chee Wei.

The meeting began with the presentation of the institutional videos from both parties, providing further insights into their educational philosophies, campus environments, and research landscapes. This was followed by a welcome speech delivered by Prof Goi, expressing the university’s enthusiasm for building international partnerships and exploring joint academic ventures. Prof Tian, on the other hand, expressed strong support for future collaboration between the two institutions.

The meeting continued with a discussion session that highlighted the mutual interests of both parties and identified potential opportunities for collaboration in science and technology. It concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photography session.

During the visit, the delegation also conducted a comprehensive study abroad briefing to introduce UTAR students to the academic programmes, research strengths, and international opportunities available at both PKU and PKU Shenzhen.
