The Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) successfully organised its Final Year Project (FYP) Poster Competition for the February 2025 Trimester on 30 April 2025. The competition served as a platform for top final-year students from various programmes under the faculty to showcase their research projects and compete for the coveted title of Overall Best Project by FEGT.
The event was coordinated and emceed by See Voon Jie, Chairperson of the UTAR IEM Student Section, with strong support from fellow IEM Student Section members Lim Jun Wei and Wong Jing Foong, who served as event hosts. These students are from the Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Environmental) with Honours. The event began with an opening speech by FEGT Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training Dr Tan Kok Tat, who congratulated the students on their dedication and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in their future careers.
The panel of judges comprised Ir Darren Chin Woon Kheong from the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Perak Branch; Ir Ts Wong Seak Wai, Chairman of the Technological Association of Malaysia (TAM) Perak Branch; and Prof Dr Yamuna Munusamy from the Department of Chemical Engineering, FEGT.
Each student presented their final year project to the panel, followed by a question-and-answer session that allowed judges to assess the depth and quality of the research. The participants and their respective projects were:
Following a comprehensive evaluation by the judges, the winners of the competition were announced. Joyce Yap Chun Chee was awarded first place and named the overall winner. Oh Su Ya won second place, while Mooi Hoe Kin secured third place.
The competition successfully highlighted the students’ technical expertise, creativity, and commitment to addressing real-world challenges through their projects. It also demonstrated FEGT’s continuous effort to nurture well-rounded graduates equipped with both academic knowledge and practical skills.
