Karnival STEM 2025 at SMJK Jit Sin
UTAR STEAM Outreach, in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) and the Division of Programme Promotion (DPP), participated in the Karnival STEM 2025 held at SMJK Jit Sin from 22 to 24 April 2025. The event, which featured booths by various universities and colleges, aimed to spark students’ interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
UTAR’s booth drew enthusiastic crowds with its hands-on activity “Having Fun with Arduino”, led by FEGT academic Dr Chin Wei Chun and supported by UTAR students and academic staff from FEGT. Through interactive workshops, students were introduced to the basics of electronics and programming by building Arduino-based projects such as memory games and traffic light circuits.
Participants learned to connect electronic components and troubleshoot simple circuits in a fun and engaging environment. A standout highlight was the memory game challenge, where students tested their logic and reflexes using a custom-designed Arduino game. Dr Chin’s patient instruction, along with the energetic support from UTAR volunteers, made the activity both educational and enjoyable.
Besides UTAR, the carnival also featured booths and activities by other participating institutions, each showcasing innovative technologies, academic programmes, and student-led projects.
UTAR remains committed to nurturing scientific curiosity and promoting STEM education through meaningful outreach and educational partnerships.Booth setup on the first day of Karnival STEM 2025
