The Division of Programme Promotion (DPP), in collaboration with the Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) and the Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM), successfully organised a dynamic and educational Course Exploration Day focused on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning at Hin Hua High School, Klang, on 26 April 2025. The event welcomed 390 Senior Middle 3 students to explore academic and career opportunities in emerging industries through engaging talks and workshops.

FAM academic Dr Fok Kuk Fai delivered a talk titled Global Economic Trends + Job Market + Interests + Personality = How to Choose the Right Business or Finance Major (全球经济形势 + 就业市场 + 兴趣 + 性格 = 如何选好财经科专业). He explained how fields such as accounting, finance, and economics are closely linked to global economic trends and job market demands, encouraging students to consider their own interests and strengths when exploring FAM’s courses at UTAR.

Adding a fun and interactive element, FAM academic Ms Lim Yee Wui conducted a business simulation workshop titled #$BizQuest: Crash or Crush?. In this session, students participated in team-based simulation games that challenged them to manage a virtual business while solving problems related to finance, accounting, marketing, and global expansion. The simulation games incorporated in the workshop also provided insights into business-related programmes and career opportunities.

On the technology front, LKC FES academic Dr Lee Ming Jie led a session on the ICT programme offered at UTAR. He highlighted the programme’s key focus areas and its relevance to modern industries, including career prospects in software development, cybersecurity, and data analysis. The session concluded with an introduction to Mobile UI Design, offering students valuable insights into designing user-friendly applications using current trends and best practices.

LKC FES academic Ir Ts Dr Koay Seong Chun introduced students to the field of Mechanical and Materials Engineering. He covered fundamental concepts and career opportunities, and explored various manufacturing techniques, with a special focus on Additive Manufacturing (3D printing). The session included an overview of the printing process and concluded with a live demonstration using a 3D printer.

The STEAM workshops at Hin Hua High School left a lasting impact on students, sparking curiosity and inspiring many to explore new academic interests. With enthusiastic participation and expert guidance from university faculty, the event proved to be a meaningful platform for nurturing the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and leaders.
