The Department of Commerce and Accountancy from the Teh Hong Piow Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF), UTAR Kampar Campus, organised the Accounting Camp 2025: Awareness of the Accounting Career and the Benefit of ACCA Programme on 8 October 2025 at Dewan Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seri Ampang, Ipoh, Perak.
The camp, held in collaboration with SMK Seri Ampang, aimed to enhance students’ understanding of accounting as a field of study and career choice after completing their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). It also sought to introduce students to the importance of professional accounting qualifications, particularly the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and to promote UTAR’s Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Accounting programme.
A total of 45 students, comprising 20 Form Four and 25 Form Five students, participated in the half-day programme. The event featured several informative and engaging sessions, beginning with an educational motivation talk that encouraged students to excel in their Prinsip Perakaunan subject and provided practical tips for effective learning. The session was followed by a career talk focusing on the pathways to becoming a Chartered Accountant through the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and the benefits of pursuing the ACCA qualification.
To make learning more enjoyable, participants also took part in interactive activities, including an accounting quiz and other fun games designed to test their understanding of the topics covered. The activities not only reinforced key concepts but also helped spark greater interest in accounting among the students.
The session concluded with a Q&A segment where students had the opportunity to engage directly with the UTAR team and clarify their queries regarding accounting studies, career prospects, and financial aid options such as the MARA education loan for Bumiputra students.
Accounting Camp 2025 was organised by Ms Che Siti Lazrina bt Md Lazim, along with committee members Puan Nur Diyana binti Ismail, Cik Ku Nur Ilyani binti Ku Abd Aziz, Puan Zulnurhaini binti Zolkaply, Dr Yamuna Rani Palanimally, and Dr Meenah Ramasamy, all from the Department of Commerce and Accountancy, THP FBF.
At the end of the programme, UTAR representatives distributed brochures on UTAR’s Accounting courses, encouraging students to consider pursuing their tertiary education at UTAR Kampar Campus—a conducive environment that nurtures academic excellence and holistic growth. Through this outreach initiative, UTAR continues its commitment to promoting higher education opportunities and inspiring young minds to explore the rewarding field of accounting.
