Shandong Talent Development Group visits UTAR

On 20 September 2025, a delegation from the Shandong Talent Development Group and the Shandong ASEAN Talent Industry Research Institute visited UTAR Sungai Long Campus. 

The delegation, led by Shandong ASEAN Talent Industry Research Institute Chairman Mr He Wei and President Dr Liu Yadong, included Cai Chuang Future (Shandong) Operation Management Co., Ltd. Mr Hu Zhenggang, and Talent Technology Innovation (Shandong) Co., Ltd. Executive Director Mr Wang Baoju.

They were welcomed by UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research Director Prof Ts Dr Lim Yang Mooi, Office of International Affairs (OIA) Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn, OIA Senior Assistant Manager Ms Wang Yiling, and Centre for International Student Recruitment and Education Collaboration Assistant Manager Ms Tan Yik Hien. 

The discussions focused on collaboration talent development and scientific research. Key areas included facilitating student exchanges, internships, and career pathways to promote bilateral talent flow. Further talks will explore joint research projects and innovation initiatives aimed at translating scientific achievements into practical applications that support regional economic growth. Additional partnership possibilities were also discussed. 

Six international students from Shandong attended the meeting, with one student representative delivering a speech.

The visit also featured the unveiling ceremony of the Shandong ASEAN Talent Industry Research Institute Overseas Center. The plaque was jointly unveiled by Mr He and Prof Dato’ Ewe. 

The Shandong ASEAN Talent Industry Research Institute is a provincial-level social service organisation established through a strategic cooperation agreement signed by the Shandong Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Shandong Talent Development Group, and the China-ASEAN Business Association. Its primary mission is to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning between Shandong and ASEAN countries, as well as nations along the Belt and Road Initiative, thereby deepening friendly cooperation. 

The institute focuses on talent development research, educational and cultural exchanges, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and economic and trade collaboration. It operates through various specialised committees covering areas such as cross-border e-commerce, education cooperation, scientific innovation, and trade promotion to provide services including research, training, consulting, and platform building. By leveraging its extensive expert team and international networks, the institute aims to foster regional economic and social development and contribute to building a China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
