UTAR Confucius Institute nurtures young talent to Asian Championship at
Chinese Bridge Competition

The Confucius Institute at UTAR (CI UTAR) once again demonstrated its commitment to advancing Chinese language education and cultural exchange when student participant Kirrtika Muniandy won the Asian Championship at the 5th Chinese Bridge Chinese Show for Foreign Primary School Students, held in Beijing on 24 September 2025.

Recommended and trained by CI UTAR, Kirrtika distinguished herself among 76 contestants worldwide, earning not only the Asian title but also placing second overall globally. She was further recognised with the Excellent Eloquence Award, the Excellent Talent Award, and the honorary title of “Chinese Language Little Ambassador.”

Her achievement, made possible through the guidance of CI UTAR teaching assistant Mr Tan Xian Jing and the support of volunteers from Tianjin Normal University, highlights the Institute’s dedication to nurturing young learners. Kirrtika also expressed gratitude to her school, SJKC Wah Keow, and to CI UTAR for their encouragement and training, which enabled her to compete confidently on the international stage.

Congratulating Kirrtika, CI UTAR Director (China) Prof Ma Yingxin and CI UTAR Director (Malaysia) Assoc Prof Dr Chong Siou Wei said that her success reflects not only her personal dedication but also the Institute’s efforts to strengthen China–Malaysia educational and cultural ties.

They further noted that the Confucius Institute at UTAR, guided by its mission of Cultural Integration, plays a pivotal role in fostering cross-cultural understanding by cultivating young ambassadors of Chinese language and culture.

This accomplishment adds to UTAR’s growing reputation as a university that prepares students and communities to embrace multicultural learning and contribute meaningfully to Malaysia’s global engagement.
