UTAR STEAM Outreach brings creativity and science to life

UTAR’s STEAM Outreach continues to inspire young learners in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) through engaging school workshops. In July 2025, it reached out to SMK Puteri, and Rafflesia International School, offering hands-on experiences to spark creativity, critical thinking, and interest in STEM-related fields.

On 9 July 2025, 17 students and four teachers from Rafflesia International School visited UTAR Sungai Long Campus for a series of STEM activities. The programme included a campus tour, an introduction to UTAR session, and two workshops by academics from the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) Titled Homemade Insects Repellent and How Your Senses Trick You?, the workshops not only introduced students to scientific concepts but also demonstrated the application of knowledge in daily life.

On 12 July 2025, UTAR brought STEM learning to SMK Puteri during Karnival Pendidikan 2025. LKC FES academics demonstrated 3D Printing, the Paper Column Challenge, and Concrete Mixing, encouraging teamwork and problem-solving while highlighting engineering’s role in innovation and infrastructure.

At both events, the Division of Programme Promotion set up counters to share information on UTAR’s academic programmes and pathways into STEM.

STEAM Outreach reflects UTAR’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Quality Education (Goal 4), Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (Goal 9), and Sustainable Cities and Communities (Goal 11).
