Ts Dr Hafiz bin Basarudin from the Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) was awarded the esteemed Academic Staff Mobility Grant 2025 by the Embassy of France to Malaysia. This recognition highlights UTAR’s ongoing commitment to fostering global academic engagement and advancing cutting-edge research.
The grant will enable Dr Hafiz to undertake a one-month research stay at Université Sorbonne Paris Nord, with full funding provided by the Embassy of France and administered by Campus France. Covering both living expenses and return travel between Malaysia and France, the programme aims to promote academic exchange and strengthen bilateral cooperation in science, technology, and innovation.
Reflecting on this achievement, Dr Hafiz shared, “I am honoured to receive the Academic Staff Mobility Grant 2025 from the Embassy of France in Malaysia. This opportunity enables me to strengthen international collaboration, particularly with Université Sorbonne Paris Nord, and to advance research on the impact of climate change on telecommunication systems. I believe this grant will not only enhance my academic growth but also foster meaningful partnerships between Malaysia and France.”
Administered through Campus France, the initiative also offers support for logistical arrangements such as accommodation. Dr Hafiz’s research visit is expected to commence in November 2025, in accordance with procedural timelines and institutional availability.
The Academic Staff Mobility Grant is part of the Embassy of France’s strategic initiative to deepen collaboration with Malaysian higher education institutions, empowering researchers to co-develop projects and exchange expertise in critical global challenges.
