Conducted in Mandarin, Mr Wong’s session covered current trends, challenges, and opportunities within the tourism industry. He elaborated on how Malaysia’s tourism sector is responding to global shifts such as digitalisation, sustainability, and changing customer expectations. Emphasising adaptability, innovation, and effective networking, he encouraged students to cultivate the right skills and attitudes to thrive in tourism and other service-related industries.
The talk featured an engaging Q&A session, where students posed questions on a wide range of topics including career opportunities for fresh graduates, post-pandemic challenges, and the role of technology in transforming tourism services. Some students also inquired about MCTA’s collaborative initiatives to promote Malaysia as a preferred travel destination.
Mr Wong addressed each question with practical advice and valuable insights, drawing from his extensive professional experience. His approachable and candid sharing inspired students to connect their academic learning with real-world applications, while motivating them to explore future career paths in the tourism industry.
The session concluded with positive feedback from both students and the speaker. Students expressed appreciation for the opportunity to gain direct exposure to industry knowledge, while the Department of Marketing acknowledged the session’s success in bridging academic learning with industry practice.
