UTAR and AutoCount Sdn Bhd (ACSB) marked the fifth year of their collaboration with the successful organisation of the AutoCount Competition 2025 – “Everyone Counts in Digital”, held at the Teh Hong Piow Faculty of Business and Finance (THP FBF), Kampar Campus, from 11 to 22 September 2025.
The competition was jointly organised by a committee comprising nine academics from the Department of Commerce and Accountancy and two THP FBF students. It aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of accounting concepts and information systems, particularly through the use of AutoCount Computerised Software. The competition also encouraged active participation and assessed participants’ digital competencies, ranging from basic technical knowledge to advanced problem-solving.
Beyond enhancing technical and academic skills, the event reflected the strong and ongoing collaboration between UTAR and ACSB, a long-term industry partner that has continuously supported education and learning initiatives over the years.
The competition commenced with a virtual opening ceremony on 11 September 2025, featuring welcome remarks by Organising Chairperson Puan Azni Suhaily binti Samsuri and the release of the competition questions. Developed by UTAR lecturers, the task required participants to complete a full set of accounts, including financial reporting statements and adjusted transactions, using AutoCount Accounting Version 2.1 within two days (11 and 12 September 2025).
A total of 44 submissions were received and evaluated using ACSB’s auto-marking system. The top three scorers were named as the winners.
The event concluded with a closing ceremony on 22 September 2025. The ceremony was attended by participants, members of the organising committee, THP FBF Dean Assoc Prof Dr Au Yong Hui Nee, and representatives from ACSB, including Education Manager Dr Tek Ee Lin and Senior Education Consultant Puan Naimah binti Shamsudin. The highlight of the ceremony was the official announcement of the winners.
