Prof Huang Hui, in his address, stated that Huaqiao University is a distinctive institution known for its excellence in both academic and practical fields, with a strong emphasis on high-quality education and international exchange. He expressed hope that this agreement would further promote student mobility and project-based learning between the two universities, and extended his gratitude to UTAR for the warm reception.

The newly signed Inbound Academic Exchange Programme agreement allows UTAR students to undertake a one-year academic programme at Huaqiao University, with a minimum of 15 students participating each academic year. Courses taught in Chinese include Broadcast Journalism, Digital Transformation and E-commerce, and Media and Communication Theories. The programme promotes cross-cultural understanding and mutual academic recognition between both institutions.

Under the agreement, UTAR will coordinate student applications, course recognition, and tuition arrangements, while HQU will oversee academic delivery and assessment. The collaboration will be jointly managed by UTAR’s Centre for Extension Education (CEE), led by Ir Dr Lim, and HQU’s International School, headed by Prof Lin.

Both universities also discussed further initiatives, including joint postgraduate training in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Strategic Communication, Mass Communication, and Education, as well as the expansion of student exchange opportunities across new disciplines.

The ceremony concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photo, symbolising the continued friendship and shared commitment of both universities toward advancing international higher education.

Over the years, UTAR and HQU have co-organised various collaborative activities, including postgraduate forums, academic seminars, and exchange programmes. Most recently, 26 HQU students joined UTAR for a student exchange programme from September 2025 to January 2026, building on a successful record of mobility that has benefited hundreds of students since 2021.
