On 3 September 2025, UTAR and Public Bank Berhad (PBB) recognised six exceptional students at the PB Top Achiever Award e-Ceremony. Held via Microsoft Teams, the virtual award ceremony acknowledged the academic efforts and achievements of students from the Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM) and the Teh Hong Piow Faculty of Business and Finance (THP FBF). 

The event featured distinguished representatives from both institutions, underscoring their strong collaborative relationship. Public Bank was represented by Ms Jennifer Chen Mui Yan, Director of Knowledge and Learning, who delivered an address, and Ms Yow Wai Yin, Vice President of Human Capital Management. UTAR was represented by Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, along with deans, deputy deans, and department heads from FAM and THP FBF, and the Director of the Division of Examinations and Admissions (DEAS). Their presence added to the supportive atmosphere of the ceremony. 

In his address, Prof Goi welcomed attendees and expressed appreciation to Public Bank for its continued partnership. He highlighted the award’s role since 2021 in honouring outstanding graduates, noting that it highlights the holistic qualities UTAR strives to nurture in its students— knowledge, professionalism, and character. Prof Goi congratulated the winners, and said, “You are not only role models to your peers, but also an inspiration to the UTAR community.” He concluded by expressing hope that the award will inspire future students to pursue excellence. 

Ms Jennifer Chen commended the award recipients, stating, “We are impressed by the academic achievement, leadership maturity, and remarkable drive each candidate has demonstrated.” She concluded by encouraging graduates, “As you move forward, remember that you are stepping into a world that is rapidly changing. Don’t wait for luck to arrive, work hard and create your own chance.” She also wished them success in their future pursuits.

The ceremony reached its highlight with the announcement of the award recipients. From the Faculty of Accountancy and Management, Toh Boon Yi received first prize, followed by Lim Qi Fei and Tay Zi Le in second and third place, respectively. For the Teh Hong Piow Faculty of Business and Finance, Ng Kai En took first place, with Wong Wun Kei and Tan Joey receiving second and third place respectively. Each recipient received a cash prize, a plaque, and a certificate, with Public Bank contributing a total of RM10,000. 

In their acceptance speeches, the students expressed gratitude and shared how the recognition motivates them to continue striving for excellence. Their remarks reflected the collective pride of both the UTAR community and Public Bank. The event concluded with a virtual group photo to commemorate the occasion and the ongoing partnership between UTAR and Public Bank.
