LKC FES Reinforces Industry Collaboration to
Shape Future-Ready Graduates

The Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), successfully hosted its annual Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) Meeting 2026 on 11 June 2026 at the UTAR Sungai Long Campus. The meeting reaffirmed the Faculty's commitment to strengthening university–industry collaboration and ensuring its academic programmes remain relevant, innovative, and responsive to the evolving needs of industry.

The meeting brought together Industry Advisory Panel members comprising senior professionals and experienced practitioners from diverse industries. Their participation demonstrates the Faculty's strong partnership with industry in supporting programme development, curriculum enhancement, and the preparation of future-ready graduates.

Officiated by the Dean of LKC FES, Ir Prof Dr Chang Yoong Choon, the meeting provided an important platform for academia and industry to exchange ideas on current industry trends, emerging technologies, workforce expectations, and the competencies required of future graduates.

Their constructive feedback and practical insights enable us to continuously enhance our academic programmes, ensuring that our graduates remain relevant, competent, and well-prepared to meet the changing needs of industry." said Ir Prof Dr Chang Yoong Choon, Dean of LKC FES.

Following the Dean's opening address, the meeting proceeded with parallel discussion sessions across all nine academic departments. Each department engaged directly with its respective Industry Advisory Panel members to discuss programme-specific developments and the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies on industry practices and workforce expectations. The discussions focused on ensuring that academic programmes remain relevant, strengthening industry-academia collaboration, and enhancing curricula to equip graduates with future-ready competencies, digital literacy, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and adaptability to thrive in an AI-driven and rapidly evolving global workforce.

The recommendations gathered during the meeting will support curriculum review, programme enhancement, and the Faculty's Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives. As one of LKC FES's key quality assurance activities, the IAP Meeting continues to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry to ensure that the Faculty delivers high-quality programmes that produce competent, industry-ready graduates equipped to thrive in an increasingly dynamic global workforce.

Ongoing discussion
