UTAR undergoes ISO 9001:2015 SIRIM Surveillance Audit 2026

UTAR successfully underwent the ISO 9001:2015 SIRIM Surveillance Audit for the provision of medical and health sciences educational services for undergraduate level and provision of financial management services, from 5 to 6 March 2026 at UTAR Sungai Long Campus. The audit formed part of the continuous monitoring process to ensure that the University’s Quality Management System (QMS) remains compliant with international Quality Management Standards.

The audit was led by SIRIM Audit Team Leader En Muhamad Hadie Aizzat bin Asli, together with auditor Pn Rajalekshmi Rama Chandram and trainee auditor Mr Goh Her Jun. The opening meeting featured a warm welcome by UTAR Vice President (Internationalisation and Academic Development), Ir Prof Dr Goi Bok Min, followed by an insightful briefing by the Dean of Academic Quality Assurance and Audit, Assoc Prof Ir Dr Gobi Vetharatnam.

During the two-day audit, the SIRIM team conducted a comprehensive evaluation of UTAR’s Quality Management System. This included reviews of organisational context, leadership, planning, competency management, documented information, internal audit processes and performance evaluation.

The auditors also assessed operational procedures within the Division of Finance, focusing on financial management services, as well as academic operations at the M. Kandiah Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (MK FMHS) for undergraduate programmes, including course delivery, assessment management and clinical training arrangements.

The audit concluded with a closing meeting where the auditors presented their findings to UTAR’s management and relevant representatives. The successful completion of the surveillance audit reflects UTAR’s continued commitment to maintaining robust quality assurance practices, strengthening governance and operational efficiency, and ensuring that its academic and administrative processes remain aligned with internationally recognised quality standards.
