Impressive wins at preliminary round and finals of the 6th Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area ASEAN International College Design & Construction Competition

Two teams of Architecture students from UTAR, who represented Malaysia at the finals of the 6^th Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area ASEAN International College Design & Construction Competition, won impressive prizes at the competition.

The two teams were Team Wive-Wave and Team Hello Future. Team Wive-Wave emerged as the Third-place winner of the overall competition while Team Hello Future won Second place in the Integrated Expression category and Honorable Mention Prize.

The winning teams were awarded at the 2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area·ASEAN International Colleges Design and Construction Competition Award Ceremony, held on 10 December 2023 in Guangzhou, China.

Team Hello Future consisted of Ang Ming Jie, Tan Tai Yon, Lim Zhi Xing, Ng KeQing and Shannon Pau Jing Hau, whereas Team Wive-Wave consisted of Hee KeHao, Jeff Jee Wei Wah, Lam Jia En, Chean Wen Bin and Woo Kai Wen.

They competed against outstanding opponents in the Malaysian Level (preliminary round) and were selected to represent Malaysia at the final round, the execution phase, where they were given the chance to build their design structure at the Nansha Bird Park, located in Guangzhou, China. In the final round of the competition, the two teams went against other finalist teams from host country China, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Laos, as well as, teams from invited institutions, such as the City University of Hong Kong, the University of Saint Joseph, Macao, Shenzhen University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China Academy of Art, et cetera.

Third prize winner, Team Wive-Wave, walked away with a cash prize of RMB3,000, a trophy and certificates.
