The UTAR STEM Outreach
organised STEM Engagement Day for 199 Form Three students at SMJK Yu Hua,
Kajang on 10 February 2023. The workshop aimed to promote students’ interest
in STEM by providing them the opportunity to participate in STEM-related
activities. A total of seven activities were conducted for the students. The
activities involved subjects such as chemistry, biology, physics, and
mathematics.
The students were divided into four groups and each group was
assigned to a station. In one of the stations, a workshop titled “Red
cabbage pH indicator” was held. The students were required to demonstrate
the elements they learned in chemistry at this station. Another station
conducted “insect pinning”. After completing the activities at the stations,
the students engaged and participated in hands-on activities.
Overall, the STEM
Engagement Day provided the school students with a chance to further explore
fields related to STEM. They gained valuable knowledge and experience
through the activities and workshops.
