UTAR’s MoU partner, CARE Concierge Academy,
commemorated the convocation of their first batch of students, totalling
eight, on 8 June 2024 at Komune Care, Cheras.
The convocation celebrated the graduates of the Fundamentals of Caregiving programme. UTAR played a pivotal role by providing the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) assessment, while the Care Concierge Academy provides both short courses and a 3-Month Certification Programme, which is jointly conferred by UTAR Centre for Corporate and Community Development (CCCD) and Care Concierge Academy.
Present at the convocation ceremony were Founder and
CEO of Care Concierge Mr Martin Yap, Care Concierge Academy Programme
Director Ms Cathreen Cheng, and Komune Care Head of Administrator Ms
Cherrine Yap.
Representing UTAR at the ceremony were M. Kandiah
Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (MK FMHS) Head of the Department of
Nursing Ms Liew Siew Fun, MK FMHS Clinical Prof Dr Hamidah binti Hassan,
Centre for Corporate and Community Development (CCCD) Director Ms Lim Guat
Yen, and CCCD Senior Assistant Manager Ms Hemalatha Naranasamy.
Mr Martin Yap expressed pride and excitement for
everyone’s presence, appreciating the hard work of both the CARE Concierge
and UTAR staff. He acknowledged the challenges faced over the past year and
the collective efforts in creating the programme. Mr Yap highlighted the
programme’s success and contribution to the industry, emphasising the
importance of being part of a larger ecosystem and recognising the
compassionate nature of caregiving. He mentioned the international
opportunities for some graduates, validating the programme’s success.
Finally, Mr Martin Yap congratulated the graduates, announced the Best
Caregiver Awards, and thanked the home managers for their significant roles.
Ms Liew highlighted the strong and fruitful
collaboration between Care Concierge Academy and UTAR. She emphasised the
importance of this partnership in shaping a practical and caring experience
for the graduates, ensuring they are well-prepared to excel in their
careers. Ms Liew also expressed confidence that the collaboration would
continue to produce graduates ready to meet the demands of elderly care with
compassion.
Ms Cathreen Cheng advised the graduates to continue
acquiring knowledge, grow in their profession, and strive to make a positive
impact on the lives of others. She expressed pride in their accomplishments
and congratulated them.
After the speeches and awards, the graduates gathered
for a joyful group photo, their smiles reflecting pride and excitement as
they celebrated their achievements and looked forward to their future
careers in caregiving.
Care Concierge Academy provides both short courses and a 3-Month Certification Programme, which is jointly conferred by UTAR (Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman) Centre for Corporate and Community Development (CCCD) and Care Concierge Academy. The trainers at the Academy are highly experienced nursing professionals with extensive international backgrounds in teaching and training. They have been instrumental in founding and managing nursing homes and departments in numerous institutions.
