The Power of Meditation

Have you ever wondered why meditation is a word that has come to be used loosely and inaccurately in the modern world? That is why there is so much confusion about how to practice it. Meditation is a precise technique for resting the mind and attaining a state of consciousness that is totally different from the normal waking state. It is the means for fathoming all the levels of ourselves and finally experiencing the centre of consciousness within. Meditation is not a part of any religion; it is a science, which means that the process of meditation follows a particular order, has definite principles, and produces results that can be verified. Are you keen to learn more about meditation and its benefits? Come and join us!

Speakers: Ms Nazreen Nizam (Capacity Building Coordinator, Women's Aid Organisation); Dr Lim Soo Jin (UTAR); & Dr Premalatha Karupiah, Kanita (USM).

 The COVID-19 global pandemic will have long-term consequences for our societies and the global economy. It is imperative to implement a gender-sensitive approach in the responses to the pandemic and in the recovery phase ? to make these measures more effective and ensure that no one is left behind. In the wake of COVID-19, it is also a time to highlight and magnify inequalities and the multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination faced by women and girls. In many instances, women may be overburdened by unpaid work, unable to continue their learning at a distance, and facing growing domestic violence.

Join us for this virtual forum to:
1) explore the challenges faced by women and girls during the pandemic (Ms Nazreen);
2) discuss work and employability of women in various trades (Dr Lim Soo Jin); and
3) discuss gender mainstreaming and intersectionality of women in a pandemic (Dr Premalatha)
