As countries around the world face an unprecedented health crisis and domestic business downturns, many are looking for new ways to address the issues. Under these circumstances, it becomes even more essential to shift our paradigms or revisit the way we perceive research.
Design Thinking is a paradigm that focuses on the human being to integrate people, technology and business. This webinar discusses the application of Design Thinking as a methodology of conducting research in the areas of business. If we apply the methodology properly, it should help researchers to produce research outputs which are not only more meaningful but importantly, more impactful to the stakeholders.

It is high time for an SOS due to the IOS - Information Overload Syndrome. Information overload is the problematic process of trying to understand something and make the right call when we have too much information around us about what we are trying to decide. Bertram Gross coined the term "information overload", which was made popular by Alvin Toffler, as a situation "when the amount of input to a system exceeds its processing capacity. Decision makers have fairly limited cognitive processing capacity. Consequently, when information overload occurs, it is likely that a reduction in decision quality will occur." Studies also showed that being overloaded with information will create unnecessary tension in an individual. Therefore, the Counselling and Guidance Unit of Kampar Campus and Sungai Long Campus launches a series of webinars to enhance staff resilience and the workplace and for this round, the danger of information overload and ways to cope with it will be shared and discussed in the online talk.

Biodiversity loss is an urgent global problem that is both caused by and has impacts on humans. As most humans now live in cities, there is a need to understand how cities impact biodiversity and how urban biodiversity impacts people. Ways of integrating biodiversity concerns into urban planning and architectural design are urgently needed. During this pandemic, have you ever wondered how COVID-19 is impacting our biodiversity? The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting all fragments of human society. Like everyone else, conservation biologists are first concerned with how the pandemic will affect their families, friends, and people around the world. But, we also have a duty to think about how the pandemic will impact the world's biodiversity and how we can protect it. In conjunction with the World Citizen Science Month, SDC is pleased to invite you to the following free webinar where you will be exposed to the importance of urban biodiversity in Malaysia context and the correct way to conserve urban nature!

Computational digital imaging and quantitative analysis are an important part of converting image data into meaningful numbers, and it also means converting images into knowledge. In the field of healthcare, radiology and pathology are the most representative image diagnosis departments because the doctors need the information from the images to diagnose patients. In clinical practice, radiologists or histopathologists need to search the root cause of the patient's disease in the images manually where this is a time-consuming and tedious process. In addition, due to the shortage of radiologists/pathologists, inefficient and subjective assessment methods will directly affect the patient's treatment plan. This has also gradually made computational digital imaging and quantitative analysis essential to help physician have quick assessment on patients' condition. In the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), we closely collaborate with clinicians to develop artificial intelligence detection model and perform the quantification to extract important pathological information for diagnosis and prognosis. In this talk, several research and service projects conducted in IMCB will be briefly discussed. Later, the talk will be proceeded by the introduction of the white matter lesions detection and quantitative analysis based on the MRI and AI-enhanced digital pathological image diagnosis platform.

Let's ask yourself: Do you find yourself making lots of sacrifices for your partner's happiness, but not getting much in return? Do you keep quiet to avoid argument? Is it difficult to say no when your partners make demand on your time and energy? If that kind of one-sided pattern sounds like yours, you don't have to feel trapped as there are lots of ways to change a co-dependent relationship and get your life back on an even keel. Co-dependency in relationships involves becoming so interested with each other that you can't function independently. It typically plays out as one person being more passive, lacking confidence, depending on being taken care of, and often having difficulties in making decisions. The other person in the relationship is more dominant, controlling, takes charge, and gets some satisfaction from making decisions and taking care of the other person. Wish to know more about co-dependent relationship? You are invited to join the following sharing sessions.

A vast range of bioactive phytochemicals are derived from plant secondary metabolites. Extraction of those pharmacological active compounds from plants poses several challenges such as climate, pathogens and soil conditions that limit their production in nature.
We have two expert scientists from Japan to speak to us about the recent development in plant metabolic engineering, especially in the research on synthetic biology for metabolites production and the plant metabolites transporters system. Those research approaches have the potential to improve the efficiency of value-added phytochemicals production.
